When planning your next family vacation make sure to include Chattanooga, TN. in your plans. There are few places where you can experience such class attractions and still be within a short distance to breathtaking views atop the mountains. Also you will enjoy be able to enjoy the arts, mountain biking, hiking, rock climbing, hangliding and white water rafting venues to name a few.

With all that Chattanooga has to offer this makes a great destination for a vacation with kids. There is so much to see and do in Chattanooga with much history. Here are some notable attractions I highly recommend you include during your visit.

Chattanooga Choo Choo - This 24-acre vacation and convention complex is located in the center of downtown Chattanooga and has something exciting to offer everyone. This attraction features shops, gardens, a trolley and a model railroad to name a few. You can actually stay in a hotel room that is in a railroad car. There are also restaurants in the area that have dining on railroad cars. Even if you don't stay here it is worth the trip to walk through the hotel and surrounding area.

The Tennessee Aquarium - The Aquarium is located on the beautiful Chattanooga Riverfront. This is one of the original large aquariums in the Southeast, which features both fresh and saltwater exhibits. Take a remarkable journey from a cove forest high in the Appalachian Mountains to a coral reef in the depths of the Gulf of Mexico. While at the Aquarium make sure you pay a visit to the IMAX Theater and plunge into an amazing underwater adventure, travel to fascinating lands or even into space.

Lookout Mountain - Minutes from downtown Chattanooga, Lookout Mountain is a perfect destination for out of the ordinary experiences and amazing natural beauty with many opportunities to snap some great pictures. There are three famous attractions located in this area that display the beauty of Lookout Mountain and spectacular views of the Chattanooga Valley. Visit Rock City's natural wonders and on a clear day "see seven states" view, walk through Ruby Falls, which is America's deepest cave and largest underground waterfall and take a ride on the Incline Railway, the world's steepest passenger trolley.

Incline Railway - There are two ways to get to the top of Lookout Mountain. You can drive or you can take a magnificent mile long ride in a railroad car that goes up the side of the mountain. The "Incline" as it is called is the world's steepest trolley-style train ride. When approaching the top of Lookout Mountain the "Incline" reaches a breathtaking 72.7% grade part of the track that gives you great views of the city.

Rock City - Located at the top of Lookout Mountain, Rock City is a marvel of nature featuring massive rock formations, with gardens containing over 400 native plants and the spectacular "see 7 states" panoramic views. Journey along the Enchanted Trail taking in the natural beauty and wonders along the wooded trail.

Ruby Falls - Another attraction atop Lookout Mountain is Ruby Falls. This massive underground waterfall is a family favorite. Inside the enormous cave on your way to the waterfall you will view many geological wonders that are located throughout the cave inside the heart of Lookout Mountain.

There is also a military park atop Lookout Mountain where you can see many points of interest of the Civil War. On your walk back to the Incline Railway you will see several shops for you to browse and pick up something in remembrance of your visit to Lookout Mountain. Also at the top of the Incline you will find things for the kids and food services with dining areas.
